Looking for Mule Deer...

Hart Mountain in Golden Hour - the light really was spectacular!
Well, it's been a crazy few months of work.  I thought I had a picture of my treadmill desk to illustrate what I've been up to since my last post, but sadly, I can't find it.  Next time!

I haven't really done much in the way of fun stuff over the past few months, except for a whirlwind trip northward to visit with The Parental Units back in early November.  Though to be honest, some of the reporting I'm doing now is really interesting - and part of the reason why I do love my job!

However, by the time Thanksgiving arrived, enough was enough, and despite my looming deadlines, I made a (whirlwind) trek up to Hart Mountain to look for mule deer for the Refuge's herd composition count.  It was a pretty short survey time, really, but I had a lot of fun, nonetheless. It was cold cold cold that night, but the stars were amazing - then in the wee hours, the clouds rolled over, and the world warmed up a little.  In the end, most of the deer had moved off the Refuge - at any rate, I saw a total of 20 while I was there, along with 57 pronghorn.  Happy!  Anyway, here are a couple more photos from my trip.
