Crazy. Never really thought I'd have a blog, but here I am, embracing technology, suppressing my Luddite tendencies! Last July, a Quest was revealed unto me [/snark]: to explore all the mountain ranges of Nevada. For those whose only experience with Nevada is driving the interstate, the fact that Nevada's actually the most mountainous state in the Lower 48 tends to come as a surprise. Away from the interstates, however, it's an incredibly beautiful place. Sadly, after I got home from my field season, I promptly managed to badly injure my foot, which put my plans on hold. But now, my foot has healed enough to start walking on, and I am jonesing to get started!
There are, of course, a few provisos to my Quest, the largest of which is that “all the mountain ranges of Nevada” means “all the mountain ranges of Nevada not controlled by the DOE/DOD,” since I am somewhat averse to being bombed, irradiated, or otherwise used as target practice. I already have enough experiences of black helicopters flying up out of nowhere, almost always at the most inconvenient time possible!
So, here it is: my blank slate. I'm looking forward to coloring it in!
